What We Believe

God
There is one God Who is eternal, all-powerful, self-sufficient, and all good.  God's existence is taken for granted in the Bible.  The New Testament asserts that the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead.  (Romans 1:20)  He is not some undefined, nebulous force.  He is not an intangible idea that we cannot comprehend, although His judgments are unsearchable, and His ways are past finding out. He makes Himself known explicitly and purposefully so that His creatures may know and worship Him.  He is a personality because we see in His Word that He has intelligence, will, power, rationality, self-consciousness, and self-determination.  He makes decisions and acts upon them in this present world.  He intervenes in the affairs of men throughout history in the past, in the present, and in the future. He revealed Himself to Abraham as "El Shaddai," the "All Sufficient One."  He later revealed Himself to Moses as Jehovah, the "Self-Existent One."  His knowledge is infinite, His judgment is infallible, and His Word is perfect.  God is the Creator of the Universe.  Unto Him is due all praise of creation, from all men and angels.  God exists in a Trinity composed of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

God the Son
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is eternally co-existent with God the Father and the Holy Spirit.  Before Abraham was, He is.  He upholds all things by the Word of His power, and by Him all things consist. (Hebrews 1:3, Colossians 1:17)  God the Son became flesh and tabernacled with men when the angel Gabriel told Mary that "the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:35)  Thus Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man.  Mary named her son Jesus at His miraculous birth, which was heralded by the angels of Heaven.  Jesus lived a sinless life of ministry, preaching the good news of the Kingdom of God to all who would hear, and healing the sick, lame, and blind.  By His miraculous works and words, Jesus affirmed to men that He was indeed, God, which angered many religious rulers of His day.  They believed that His words were blasphemous and that He made Himself out to be equal with God.  For this Jesus was crucified on a hill called Calvary.
Jesus was not powerless to stop His death.  At the Crucifixion, a brutal method of punishment for criminals, Jesus offered Himself as a spotless lamb, and shed His precious blood to make a substitutionary atonement for the sins of all men.  Though He Himself was without sin, He took all of mankind's judgment for sin on the Cross.  Jesus gave up His life freely, in obedience to the eternal will of God the Father.  Jesus was buried and then rose from the grave, victorious over sin and death.  He is now our High Priest, Who intercedes for us at the right hand of God the Father.  He will come back personally and visibly in order to set up His millennial kingdom on Earth.  If any man repents of his sins and believes on Jesus as Lord and Savior, his sins will be forgiven and cleansed from him.  The Bible says that he which confesses and forsakes his sin shall find mercy.  (Proverbs 28:13)

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Holy Trinity.  He was present during the creation of the world.  He is the Comforter and the Paraclete of the Christian believer.  He moved holy men of God to write the Scriptures, and now illuminates them when they are read.  He convicts men of sin.  He indwells the believer and equips them for service when they are born again.  Men obey God if they deny the flesh, their sinful nature inherited from Adam, and walk in the Spirit.  Thus, the Holy Spirit acts as the daily Guide of the Christian and empowers him for service.

The Holy Scriptures
The Holy Scriptures are God's written revelation to man.  They are the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments that comprise the Bible.  All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, which means they were "God-breathed."  They are the very thoughts and expressions of a perfect and holy God.  They are relevant, infallible, authoritative, and trustworthy in all areas of man's relationship with God and his fellow man.

Creation
The Bible teaches that God created the universe in six literal 24-hour days.  The individual days of creation consisted of a day and a night.  He then rested from His creative work on the seventh day.  This implies that all animals were present on the sixth day.

Man
The Bible teaches that the first man, Adam, was created by God on the sixth day of Creation.  Man was a pure and innocent being, and enjoyed complete fellowship with God in the Garden of Eden.  Adam fell out of fellowship with God, through the sin of disobedience.  All men and women are descendants of the first man, Adam, and therefore have inherited his sin nature.

Salvation
The Bible teaches that because man is a sinner, he is a fallen creature.  He has fallen short of the glory of God, and there is no act he can do to redeem himself.  What man could not do for himself, the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished on the Cross.  For man to be saved from sin and death, he must repent of his sin and accept the free gift of salvation that Jesus Christ freely offers.  Salvation is a free gift to man, that is only by grace through faith in the blood sacrifice, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  There is no other name under Heaven whereby a man can be saved.
